August 28, Dues Deadline, Music Markings and More
Woops. That last email subject should have read “Not.”

From Membership Services Committee – Dan Kullas
(1) The New-Singers Orientation meeting (which Brian characterized as “mandatory” in last week’s announcement break) begins promptly at 6:15 PM in Room 314, right next door to the choir room.
(2) If you are singing EITHER of this semester’s performances, this is the final week for you to bring $95 (the new dues amount) as cash or check (we can’t accept credit or debit cards) After this Tuesday evening, August 30, failure to pay dues will cause a singer to be removed from the active roster, and the singer will be expected to return his/her music to the Chorale Librarian.
Thank You.
Dan

From Brian:
Dear Ones,
On August 30, we will spend considerable time in sectionals on the following pieces:
Gabrielli: Hodie Christus Natus Est and the Rutter Gloria (last movement – December repertoire), as well as The Song of the Open Road and Cindy.
MARK YOUR SCORE/PART IN CINDY BEFORE NEXT TUESDAY. Please work on the pieces PRIOR to rehearsal. Mike has posted recordings on the website. If you are NOT a pianist, come prepared to record our sectionals (on your phone or some type of recorder), so you have something part-specific to practice with at home.
NOTE from Mike-of-the-Internet:
Below is Brian’s rehearsal plan for Tuesday. It is also posted on the Members-only page. In the future, I will post these plans ONLY on the website to cut down on verbiage of these emails.
End Mike’s note

From Liz:
A reminder for all singers:
If you are singing with a borrowed piece of music(if it is NOT stamped “Cherry Creek Chorale”, assume it is borrowed), please do not use ink, highlighters or hole punch.
At your first rehearsal back for the December concerts, you will return all October music in the envelope provided. Take a few minutes to erase pencil marks in borrowed music before you return it.
If you aren’t singing the December concert, you will need to make a plan to get the music back to me. I will remind you of this closer to the concerts!
If you have any questions, feel free to email or ask at rehearsal.
Thank you!

A request from Sally Bradley:
If you are going to the memorial service for Doug Doig, would you please save a program for the history file.
Thanks, Sally Bradley

August 23, New Seating Arrangement
Dear ones,
I have rather drastically revised the seating arrangement for rehearsals.
As you enter, please pick up a copy and navigate to the seat I have assigned you.
This is a draft and Alice or I may have different thoughts.
Please use this for now. Please DO NOT ask to be moved.
The arrangement for RISERS will be somewhat different and I’ll get this to you later on.
No need to confuse you with it this evening.
See you soon!

August 16, Picnic THIS SATURDAY!
Hey all you dudes and dudettes,
Apparently the Pony Express didn’t deliver everybody’s invitation, so some of you are out there scratching your heads and wondering what’s going on with the Chorale picnic. Here’s the scoop:
Time and Date:
This coming Saturday, August 20, 4:00 (if you want to come early for drinks, appetizers, and schmoozing) or 6:00 (when the meal will be served) until whenever, 9:00 or so.
Location:
The Johnson Ranch, home of Debbie and Irnie Johnson, 3255 Plum Creek Parkway, Castle Rock, CO 80104
Here are detailed directions, straight from the horse’s mouth:
Heading south from Denver to Castle Rock on I-25, take the southernmost Castle Rock exit–#181. Turn left (east) and go for 2.3 miles. After you cross Eaton St./Circle, watch for the yellow hidden-driveway sign.
Slow down there and turn on your left blinker. (Sometimes drivers exceed the speed limit so you need to give them plenty of notice!).
Turn left on to the gravel driveway marked 3251 and 3255.
Pass the pond and stay right at the fork.
Proceed up the hill where there will be plenty of parking.
Debbie’s cell is 720-298-6887 if you need to call.
THIS IS NOT A POTLUCK, so you don’t have to worry about bringing food. The Chorale is providing the food and soft drinks. You are welcome to bring beer and wine.
Would you like to help out with food preparation? E-mail the head of the chuckwagon crew, Debi Simons, at debisimons@gmail.com.
If (and only if) you have not yet RSVP’d, please do so by e-mailing Debi Simons at debisimons@gmail.com.
Hope to see y’all there!

Mark your calendar for August 20, the date of the Cherry Creek Chorale’s annual picnic! This is the Saturday before our first rehearsal and we will be hosted by Debbie and Irnie Johnson at their Castle Rock ranch. Please note a couple of important points:
1. There’s lots to do at the Johnsons’ place, so feel free to come as early as 4:00. There will be drinks and appetizers available before the meal, which will start at 6:00.
2. The Chorale will provide soft drinks. Chorale members are welcome to bring beer or wine.
3. Please watch for your digital invitation which will be sent out later this week and RSVP through that invitation. It will be very helpful to those of us planning the event to have all the responses in one place. Invitations will be sent out through a service called Pingg.com, so make sure your invitation does not end up in your spam or junk folder.
We are looking forward to this special event!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FROM BRIAN:
Dear Ones,
I am attending the annual workshop of the Colorado chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. I am participating in the directors choir under the direction of my old Shaw buddy, Charles Bruffy. He is the conductor of two of America’s best professional choirs: the Kansas City Chorale and the Phoenix Bach Choir.
We will present a FREE CONCERT at 5 pm THIS Wednesday, July 20 at Bethany Lutheran Church Sanctuary. The concert is open to the public!!!!
Plan on about 30 minutes. A varied and beautiful concert. I hope you’ll be able to come see and hear it!!!
Brian
WANTED: BABY GRAND
The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in LIttleton is in the market for a used 6’ 1” Baby Grand Piano in very good condition to be purchased by mid-fall. Anyone with knowledge of one such fine piano is encouraged to call Dave Stover at 303-797-2475.
Our committee would like to meet and discuss the particulars of the purchase and, of course, have a chance to inspect and play it. Depending on our money-raising efforts, the time frame for purchase may be shorter. We certainly hope that is the case. We want to negotiate a reasonable price depending on the assessment of our team. Once we have come to an agreement, we expect to move fairly quickly to transport the piano to our church. Please call the above number if you are interested or know of someone we should contact.
Thank you.
Dave Stover
